Tolerances: Salty soil or sea-spray, drought, poorly drained sites, alkaline soils (pH > 7.5)
Attributes: Texas native, attractive seeds or fruit, seeds or fruit eaten by wildlife
Features: Trunk shape; wildlife utilize the twisted seed pods; leaves cast a light, filtered shade.
Comments: Similar to Honey Mesquite, but suited more to moist sites in the Trans-Pecos.
Problems: Thorns; could be hard to find in nurseries.
